1 Roll of Film - London 🇬🇧

Today I loaded my Leica M6 with a fresh roll of Ilford HP5 and headed out to shoot in my favourite city, London. After taking the underground to London Bridge station (not to be confused with the Tower Bridge), I was standing right in front of my first photo location.

The Shard

Since 2012, the Shard is one of London's most impressive landmarks and there are multiple good locations for a picture - for example this one.

Afterwards, I headed to Borough Market for a little snack and continued my walk towards Waterloo. There is a beautiful path that leads you along the River Thames on the Southwark site and after I followed it for around 20 minutes, I found myself right in front of the London Eye and Big Ben. Today, the Big Ben was more interesting for me since the ongoing construction gave me the opportunity for a unique picture that stands apart from the "classic London picture-collection".

Here I crossed the Westminster Bridge to continue my journey down the Thames on the other site. The tide was close to its lowest point and gave me the opportunity for some landscape style photography with the London Eye in the background and the building of the MI5.

Today, my walk ended in Vauxhall where I took the train back to my place which gave me the chance for a few more pictures. I love London's public transport system with its old underground stations that go back all the way to the year 1863.

It wouldn't be a real trip through London if it wouldn't end with a pint in one of the city's 3,823 pubs which gave me enough time to rewind my film and think about where my next roll will be shot.

I hope you enjoyed this little journey. London is a gigantic city with a million things to explore and experience. Of course, 1 roll of film cannot capture all of this - but it can capture the memories of my walk. And that is what it is all about.

Today, I took this walk >> sign up here to join me on my future walks.

Cheers,
Markus
